Volunteer

Circle of Care depends on the generosity and dedication of our volunteers. Won't you consider giving your time to help families with cancer? Whether you have a little time or a lot, there is an opportunity for you to help make a difference!

Hospital Volunteers
Interested in becoming a part of our team? Our volunteers are people like you. Volunteers receive training at the hospital, as well as Circle of Care training, designed to help you to respond to the special needs of our pediatric oncology patients and families.

Currently our volunteers donate their time at Pediatric Hematology/ Oncology Associates in Guilford, and the in-patient pediatric unit at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Volunteers do not provide medical care, medical treatment, medical advice
or psychotherapy, or interfere with the doctor/patient relationship in any way.

Lifeline

Won't you be a Lifeline "Buddy"?

Your Experience is Invaluable

Volunteers to our Lifeline Program provide telephone support and give hope to families. Your personal experience as a family living with childhood cancer is invaluable. Your insights, practical tips and emotional support can make a real difference. To be a Lifeline buddy, your child should be one year past diagnosis and you will need to attend one of our training workshops.

Circle of Care has ongoing volunteer training to support families newly diagnosed with childhood cancer. Won't you consider giving your time to help a family like yours?

The Lifeline program does not provide medical care, medical treatment, medical advice or psychotherapy, or interfere with the doctor/patient relationship in any way. It is offered at no charge to families, caretakers, and friends of children currently being treated for cancer.

Bags of Love

Our signature program helps to meet the needs of every newly diagnosed child. Our Bag of Love is a canvas tote filled with the day-to-day items most needed during the hospital stay, as well as vital resource information for the parent. Families find having familiar items and some of the comforts of home to be very helpful during those first few days.

Volunteers are needed to sort donations, fill bags and deliver bags to the New Haven area and Hartford.
